Children as young as five are to be given lessons in computer programming and older pupils taught how to use 3D printers to prepare them to compete in the modern age.

The new national curriculum for England also promises youngsters must learn fractions and traditional science subjects in an attempt to bring rigour back into the classroom.
Between the ages of 11 and 14 students will be taught coding, and how to solve computer problems. Internet safety will also be taught from the age of five.
Primary pupils will be taught about evolution for the first time and those at secondary school will have to study physics, chemistry, and biology as separate classes rather than in combined science courses.
