Remote-control bombs kill 103 at grave of Iranian terrorist chief
At least 103 people were killed after two explosions tore through a crowd gathering to mark the anniversary of the 2020 killing of Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps leader, General Qasem Soleimani.
The explosions occurred near his gravesite in Kerman, about 510 miles southeast of the capital, Tehran.
Two bags containing bombs were placed at the entrance of the burial site and detonated by remote control, Iran’s deputy governor claimed.
Iranian state television said that the incident was “caused by terrorist attacks”.
State media reported 103 people had been killed and 188 others injured, with some “in critical condition”.
Eyewitnesses “spoke of the possibility of explosions being caused by gas cylinders”, the Al Mayadeen news service said.
The cause of the blast is yet to be confirmed.
